#32 Choosing the Right AI Tool

Published 6 months ago • 3 min read

Happy Thursday Reader!

Yesterday was a blast!

I was honored to speak at the German women's network "Frau + Wirtschaft" of the IHK Schwaben.

It's always thrilling to connect and hear your thoughts. And guess what kept popping up? "How do you find and choose the right AI tools without feeling like you're drowning in options?"
So, why not spill the beans on how I tackle this?

Let's dive right in.

Time to Tune In ❤️

In my inbox, there's always a parade of new AI tools. It sounds exciting, but honestly, who has the time to try them all? Not me! I mean, I love tech, but after the third tool, I'm like, "Hold up, is this even helping?" That's the million-dollar question.

So, how do we keep up without losing our minds?

Here's the secret sauce: start with a real headache you're facing, something that's bugging you in your work or life. Let's get real here.

I've been hosting loads of live sessions recently and love them! But there's always that moment at the end when someone asks, "Can I get the recording?" Internally, I'm panicking. I've got a mountain of tasks and video editing. It's not my jam. But I can't just send out a raw video with awkward pauses and 20 minutes of seeing nobody in the break-out rooms, can I? So, what's a girl to do?

Ready to Gear Up 🧰

Once you've got your problem crystal clear, it's time to rally the troops.

This is where you get chatty. Ask around and see what others are using. Trust me, there's always someone who's found a shortcut.

I hit up my network, LinkedIn pals, industry groups, and even the good old X (you know, Twitter's new friend). And hey, remember our AI intern ChatGPT or a good old Google search. There are also free AI tool marketplaces where you can search via categories, e.g., content production or video editing.

See how much easier a search for the right tool works if you think first about your problem!

Put your Power Play on 🕹️

Here's where the magic happens.

For me, it's been a mix of Otter.ai, and Loom (because I want to see if you are really watching my replays and love getting emotions for my videos). These are my knights in shining armor for cutting editing time and preparing those transcripts, which I turn into follow-up blog posts, emails, etc. Sure, it's not perfect (especially for my German sessions – come on, AI, get with the program!), but it's a start.

Ready to Accelerate 🚀

I won't lie; finding the right tech stack is still a work in progress, but I have already reduced my editing time from 2 hours to about 30 minutes. Not too shabby. And hey, there's more on the horizon. I'm eyeing Descript to whip up some snazzy social media snippets. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Step by step, ladies.

If you want to see this in action and get your hands dirty, join me in the Future-Ready Woman community. I'll be sharing the nitty-gritty weekly.

Share the Spark 💖

Speaking of tech wonders, have you heard about this AI startup in San Francisco, hu.ma.ne? They've scooped up $230 million and are launching a Siri-like pin with eyeballs. Yes, you heard that right, eyeballs 👀!

It's all voice and gesture-controlled. No screen, just you flicking and poking at your hand. A bit odd, right? The demos look cool but heavy. Can my blouse handle this tech bling? And it's priced at $699. It's not Apple-level pricey, but still.

Shall I discharge my scratched iPhone, or is it just a flashy tech toy? What do you think? Drop me your thoughts!

Back to our AI tools – remember, a tool's only as good as the problem it solves. Let's keep our eyes on the prize and find what truly works for us.

Sending you all the good vibes from Venice Beach, and hey, if this rain doesn't let up, you'll find me in a gondola, Venice Italy-style! 😂

Stay dry ☔️ and tech-savvy,

Simone
