#37 Fearless Tech-Women: Celebrating New LinkedIn Video Skills and the Power of 'Just Do It'

Published 3 months ago • 3 min read

Happy Friday Reader!

I just finished the last session of my masterclass with confetti - because, yes, why not showcase the new facilitation tech skills I've acquired over the past few months?

Today, I will talk about the 'just do it' mindset and how challenging it can be to overcome our fears.

Yet, once we do, the feeling is incredible. I hope our stories will inspire you to become a fearless woman, too.

But first, let’s get our thinking juices flowing, shall we?

Time to Tune In ❤️

It's been a few weeks since I went on a deep dive and did my first public annual review. I'm still thinking about my "NICE" goals (Near-term, Input-based, Controllable, and Energizing) for 2024, which I learned from Ali Abdaal's new book, "Feel Good Productivity."

One of the goals I've already started implementing is increasing my visibility on LinkedIn.

Yes, I show up at least 3-4 times a week, but I still need to build a habit.

To give myself some credit, people now realize me on LinkedIn, which has never happened before. And yes, there's also more data, which I now use much better in finding topics that my audience enjoys (and so do I).

This helped me come up with four content buckets.

Ready to Gear Up 🧰

Finalizing my content buckets was a big step toward gearing up. Creating content ideas was so tricky in the past because I was posting random things without focus.

Having now

  1. Figured out the content ideas ✅,
  2. Updated my profile with the help of AI ✅
  3. Read 123 pages of the new LinkedIn algorithm ✅

I started to have more time to experiment with new formats on LinkedIn: Video.

Oh boy, this requires much self-encouragement, overcoming fears, not liking myself on camera, and doubting my English proficiency.

I thought it was time to gear up with my digital twin to be in front of the camera, speaking every language on the planet without an accent 24/7, but in the meantime, I decided to 'just do it.'

My German accent is actually what makes me authentic.

Put your Power Play on 🕹️

Here is my first attempt, proving that I did push the button at the end (after getting the green light from my husband and my masterclass women) 😊.

This video idea emerged unexpectedly while I was doing a mundane bookkeeping task.

I became increasingly annoyed with all the tech bros popping up on LinkedIn and in real life in my neighborhood at the beach, flaunting their new Apple Vision Pros, completely losing touch with when it's appropriate for humans to use a headset.

So, I decided this topic deserved a humorous woman spin.

Here we go:

Ready to Accelerate 🚀

You know, all the limiting beliefs we all have.

It always looks so easy and confident from the outside, but inside, we all have daily debates with that little voice saying, "don't do it."

But the "just do it" part is enormous – especially regarding tech confidence, meaning playing and experimenting with AI tools, getting your idea out of your head, and pushing the button to get feedback from strangers.

"This is where personal growth happens; constructive feedback turns into learning and unknown possibilities" – a summary of today's last check-up call from my masterclass, taking a handful of women on a transformational journey over the previous 90 days.

Ultimately, it was emotional for me, not only because these women believed in me and gave me their trust to take them on this learning journey but also to see their acceleration over time:

For example, you can now follow Helena on her journey on LinkedIn. She began as an invisible visual artist (which may sound somewhat controversial when visibility is your job, as she pointed out), and has since transformed into a confident, build-in-public visual artist. She now fearlessly showcases her talent, blending creativity, spirituality, and AI literacy to assist other women in gaining visual clarity in life.

Or there's 18-year-old Pia, who just finished school and started her digital fluency journey - going from using PowerPoint to now designing customized GPTs, creating a new interactive career compass chatbot for other GenZ's who also can't see the horizon in finding their next step.

Share the Spark 💖

"Just do it," or as we say in German, "einfach mal machen," is probably the overall result of each of our transformational journeys of overcoming emotional barriers and limiting beliefs.

What I realized about AI and digital tools is that the best way to open up the universe of possibilities and see the value for all of us is "just to get started."

And the secret sauce is fusing human skills with digital literacy and using a community set up for accountability and trust.

But starting can be tough, with many women feeling lost and overwhelmed.

That's why I created Future-Ready Woman.

I want to help more women get started, see the benefits, break through obstacles, and get more comfortable with technology.

Enough of the 'just do it' mindset for today.

Now, it's your turn to 'just do it!'

I'm off to Europe in a few hours to celebrate an important milestone: my 10th wedding anniversary with my amazing husband.

This is yet another 'just do it' moment that relationship experts (but not me) might love to explore 🙂
