[FRW Cohort 3] Let's Get Tech-Savvy Together: Unveiling the Secret Sauce of Learning Tech

Published 6 months ago • 2 min read

Hello Reader!

Have you ever felt that navigating the tech world is like trying to find your way through a dense forest without a map? Do you dive into books, tune into podcasts, or try to absorb all the information you can get?

I've been on this journey for over a decade now, working to understand what being 'digital' means and figuring out how to learn it together. And if I asked each of you, I'm sure I'd get a different answer every time.

It seems like everywhere you look, the message is clear: "You've got to get digital-savvy." But where’s the roadmap? How do we get there?

That's why I came up with a solution for us to get tech-savvy together: Over the last few years, I've brought over 500 CEOs from around the globe to Silicon Valley. We met brilliant startup founders, played with the latest tech, and learned from the innovator's source. Why? There’s something special about seeing tech in action and being around people who really 'get it' and can show us how they apply it to their businesses.

That’s where the magic happens, and our imaginations kick in.

I once tried giving everyone a tech book about the Metaverse before our trip. It's a fantastic book, but how many people read it? Zero.

But when I handed out the book afterward? More than half of them dove in. They were motivated, curious, and ready to bring new ideas back to their work, all thanks to our inspiring journey.

I realized that sometimes, we must be pulled out of our daily grind to start thinking about the future.

Then the pandemic hit, and suddenly, trips to Silicon Valley were off the table.

Tech was evolving faster than ever, and flying worldwide for learning wasn't a sustainable or practical option anymore. I also realized that this way of learning, flying quickly to Silicon Valley" was incredibly challenging for many women in leadership, who often have families to care for.

The silver lining? We all discovered that we could connect and learn right from home.

But here was my new challenge: How could I create that same authentic, human connection online that we had in person?

I've spent the last few months diving deep into this challenge, investing time and money in facilitation masterclasses, learning from the best experts in the field like Felipe Nardi from Brazil and Gwyn Wansborough from Spain, and figuring out how to make my sessions as engaging as possible.

After hosting a series of masterclasses and live sessions, I’ve found three key things. My secret sauce that makes a difference when it comes to learning tech:

  1. Showcasing the value of tech sparks curiosity.
  2. Learning alongside like-minded peers by appointment builds accountability.
  3. Regularly coming together in a safe space to experiment and share boosts our collective intelligence, helping us learn faster and wiser.

Are you curious how it all comes together in a cohort-based masterclass? Join me for a "behind the scenes" look today.

I can't wait to see you!

❤️ from Venice Beach
